The sixth season of the American television comedy series 30 Rock, which airs on the NBC network in the United States, commenced broadcasting on January 5, 2011. NBC renewed the show for a sixth season on November 15, 2010. The season was scheduled to air mid-season to accommodate Tina Fey's pregnancy. On November 14, 2011, NBC announced that 30 Rock would return at the new time slot of 8:00 pm.
Initially, it was believed that this season would mark Alec Baldwin's final appearance in the series, as he had expressed his intention to explore other forms of media. However, in January 2012, Baldwin confirmed he would continue with the seventh and final season of 30 Rock. Season six received positive critical reception and earned 13 Emmy Award nominations.
